Biography
Born in Wakefield, Yorkshire Sanders studied at the schools of art there and in Leeds (1922-26) before continuing his training at the Royal College of Art in London (1926-29). He was a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy from the early 1930's onward and was elected RA in 1961. He was both a landscape painter and one who also specialised in detailed work on foliage, grasses and flowers. His palette often showed a blue-green bias. In 1956, he was awarded a gold medal at the Paris Salon. |
