Biography
Born in Glasgow in 1953. Became an engineer and fitter in the steel industry after leaving school. Studied at the Glasgow School of Art, 1978-82 and in his graduation year was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship which took him to New York. There he gained an international reputation as he developed his unique style of overlaying, sometimes complex, colourful narrative with riddles, puzzles and associated ideas. In 1986 he returned to Glasgow and, though never working or collaborating with Conroy, Currie, Wisniewski and Howson, is often referred to, along with them, as one of the New Glasgow Boys. |
